Listed Emperador Inc., through its subsidiary, has taken a 57-percent share of the brandy market in Mexico. In a statement on Tuesday, the Andrew Tan-led distillery company said this came on the back of growing preference for brandy among liquor consumers in the country. “Based on the latest figures released by AC Nielsen, Emperador’s subsidiary Casa Pedro Domecq takes 57 percent of the brandy market share in Mexico, a country with a population of around 120 million people, which is bigger than the Philippines,’” it said. Emperador took control of Casa Pedro Domecq in 2017 and currently sells three major brandy brands — Presidente, Don Pedro and Aztec de Oro — in the North American country. Emperador shares climbed by 14 centavos or 1.42 percent to end at P9.99 each on Tuesday.
