DAVAO DE ORO: Twenty-six former members of the New People’s Army (NPA) have each received immediate financial assistance from the provincial government here while waiting for other benefits under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-Clip). The P10,000 cash aid was handed to each of the former rebels at the capitol’s old session hall. The E-Clip is one of the programs under the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, a body created by President Rodrigo Duterte through Executive Order 70. The program aims to ensure sustainable and inclusive peace and put an end to the 50-year armed struggle led by the Communist Party of the Philippines and the NPA, its armed wing. Philippine Army deputy brigade commander Col. Glenn Jun Calambuhay advised the recipients to be prudent in spending what they received from the government.
