DESPITE the Covid-19 pandemic, I believe it is still important to continue commemorating the National Quincentennial, or the 500th anniversary of the Victory of Lapulapu in Mactan and other related events that will climax on April 27, 2021. It should be the most important historical national celebration since the Philippine Centennial.

Despite most of its budget being returned to the national treasury to be used in our Covid-19 response efforts, the National Quincentennial Committee (NQC) said it would try its best to push through with their plans, commemorations that would still be fitting and appropriate.
