President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday sought the revival of the death penalty for crimes related to illegal drugs, saying drug dealers continued to do their illicit activities even as the country grappled with the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
Duterte reiterated his call for the reimposition of the death penalty during his fifth State of the Nation Address.
