Technology is no substitute for education. It complements the teacher and the delivery of content, but it does not replace these key facilitators of learning. True, technology is at the heart of teaching in this time of pandemic. Educators, however, need to realize that technology is not the panacea to any teacher’s bad habits and lack of grasp of content.
In 2006, Punya Mishra and Matthew Koehler formulated the Tpack theory, which stands for Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge. Using a diagram, they presented the equal importance and interlapping connections of technology, pedagogy and content.
