Co-working space company WeWork said it recorded an 11-percent increase in the number of its enterprise members across Southeast Asia from March to July amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic. In an email interview with WeWork SEA and Korea Head of Growth Ray Tan, the company said it saw stronger and more significant interest from enterprise companies in Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines and Indonesia in the period. “The double-digit percentage growth in enterprise members across these markets illustrate a keen desire by these enterprises to become more operationally efficient as they continue to scale their growth in these economies,” he said. For the Philippines, the company is looking to support its increased reputation as the regional business process outsourcing hub and help it grow. “Covid-19’s impact [on Southeast Asia] has shown the importance for businesses to be prepared with scalable and flexible space solutions to address their operational and regulatory needs in a timely manner,” Tan explained.
