Agri groups urge scraping ‘strong’ import policy

The United Broilers and Raisers Association (Ubra) and the Philippine Chamber of Agriculture and Food Inc. (Pcafi) are urging the government to get away from its “strong” import policy that they claimed has displaced Filipino farmers’ potential broiler sales worth a whopping P37 billion for eight years and P14.086 billion in broiler feed, among others.

In an open letter desperate for public support, Ubra and Pcafi said they have been compelled to present “evidence-based quantifiable data” amid the recent response of the Department of Agriculture (DA) response to their pleadings against imports.
