UNLIKE other sections of the research report, a section in Chapter Three Methodology doesn’t seem to be allocated needed stress in a 3-unit Research class as do the major research sections — the introduction, the literature review, and the data analysis and interpretation. Web articles note that for readers to appreciate the research findings, the Setting of the Study (SoS) in Chapter 3 Methodology has to vividly describe the elements in the dynamics of the study. An authentic rendering of the research setting adds to new knowledge such as determining the transferability of findings in similar settings.

Examples of SoS write-ups. Earlier, we shared the SoS of two studies, one, in two hospitals as the work-world of nurses to determine their work values and creativity. A second study was in a burgeoning public high school. Said study aimed to determine employee commitment to the Health and Safety Standards as a recent law provides. Today we have a third example — a very timely topic on risk reduction management considering the recent natural disasters we have experienced with much loss to property and even lives. Let’s first have the broader background of the research topic which our guest researcher described in Chapter 1 of his research manuscript.
