SEN. Sherwin Gatchalian called on local government units (LGUs) to initiate dry-runs on the Learning Continuity Plan (LCP) of the Department of Education (DepEd) before classes reopen in August. As the DepEd is set to conduct its own dry-run for distance learning in the first week of August, Gatchalian, who heads the Senate basic education, culture and arts committee,  said LGU-led dry runs would identify both "pain points and solutions for a smoother implementation of the localized LCP".
