ZAMBOANGA CITY: Following the successful anti-polio campaign here in February, Mayor Isabel Climaco-Salazar has urged parents to have their children immunized against polio, a highly contagious disease transmitted through the fecal-oral route that may result in life-long paralysis and even death. Climaco-Salazar said the City Health Office was gearing up for the Sabayang Patak Kontra Polio 3 drive for the bivalent oral polio vaccine, which would run from July 20 until August 2 for children aged zero to below 10 in an effort to contain and eradicate polio in the city. The mayor thanked the World Health Organization for its technical assistance and l the Department of Health for providing logistics to the city government.
