4 NEGROS LAWYERS PROBED FOR ‘IGNORING’ BUSINESSMAN

BACOLOD CITY:Four lawyers are among eight employees of the Provincial Legal Office (PLO) of the provincial government of Negros Occidental facing investigation after a businessman filed a complaint against them. Lawyer Alberto Nellas Jr. of the provincial legal office, said the complainant claimed that when he went to the PLO office, “he was not attended to and that nobody was around.” Nellas added that there were also complaints for “alleged tardiness and absences and alleged tampering of daily time records against the concerned personnel.” Lawyer Rayfrando Diaz, provincial administrator, said the PLO personnel had been served with a show cause order. Diaz asked the eight employees to explain why their daily time records were not correctly filled up. Currently, the PLO has eight lawyers, two of whom are assigned at the Provincial Environment Management Office, and about 10 other staff members, Nellas said.
