MANTICAO, Misamis Oriental: Fifteen people, including children were hospitalized after eating a contaminated birthday cake during a birthday party here, a government official said Wednesday. Francisco Dy Jr., head of Misamis Oriental’s disaster risk reduction and management, said the youngest of the victims included a three-year-old child. He added that the victims attended a birthday party on Tuesday night where they reportedly consumed a birthday cake. Doctors at the Manticao Municipal Hospital traced the contamination to the birthday cake after conducting an examination of the food that the victims had consumed during the party. It was not revealed, however, what dangerous additive was in the cake. The victims were admitted at the town’s hospital, but were later sent home after undergoing treatment, Dy said.
