ASUNCION, DAVAO DEL NORTE: Some 150 residents of Barangay Igangon, San Isidro town staged a “peace rally” on June 14 to formally and publicly withdraw any association and support for the Communist Party of the Philippines-National Peoples Army-National Democratic Front of the Philippines (CPP-NPA-NDFP) and all its legal front organizations. Their place of residence, Barangay Igangon of the said town, also formally declared the organization as persona non grata in their locality, despite having immediate family members as active NPA members. The attendees were all former members of underground mass organizations put up by the local guerilla unit of the CPP-NPA in the area — many utilized as couriers, spies and even saboteurs of government projects and initiatives — who voluntarily submitted themselves to the Community Support Team of the 60th Infantry Battalion deployed in San Isidro.
