A group of experts from the University of the Philippines said the number of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases would have shot up had the government not restricted the movement of the public.

Dr. Emmanuel Baja of the UP Independent Pandemic Response team for Covid-19 said the country’s total cases could have ballooned  to 80,000 in a day if the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) were not enforced in March.
