SUBIC BAY FREEPORT: Some 3,500 workers from 20 companies here have lost their jobs as employers implemented retrenchment measures as a result of financial difficulties encountered brought about by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
A report from the Labor Department of the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) said the affected companies such as applied cost-cutting measures like forced leave, compressed workweek schedules or outright termination of workers since February when the Covid-19 outbreak began to hurt business activities worldwide.
