MARAWI CITY: Twenty-one new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) have been recorded in Lanao del Sur since June 7, Gov. Mamintal Alonto Adiong Jr. said in a briefing hosted on Monday by Secretary Martin Andanar and Undersecretary Rocky Ignacio. With the spike in cases, Adiong Jr. appealed to residents of the province to stay at home unless it is absolutely necessary to go out to get essential supplies such as food and medicine. The governor, also the chairman of the Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force on Covid-19, requested the national government to let locally stranded individuals, who want to go home to Lanao del Sur, undergo reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction or RT-PCR test before sending them back to avoid transmission of the disease. The same request was made by Marawi City Mayor Majul Gandamra in the briefing. Meanwhile, Gov. Mamintal Alonto Adiong, Vice Gov. Mohammad Khalid Raki-in and Rep. Ansaruddin Alonto attended the turnover of 11 ambulances from Toyota to 11 First District municipalities of this province, namely Amai Manabilang, Bubong, Buadipuso Buntong, Lumba Bayabao, Maguing, Maranato, Piagapo, Poona Bayabao, Tagoloan, Taraka and Wao.
