TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan: The province of Kalinga has reported its first coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) case in the city of Tabuk on Wednesday, June 10. According to the Local Health Board of Tabuk (LHBT), the patient, tagged as K-01, is a 30-year-old displaced construction worker from Barangay Gobgob, who arrived from Caloocan City on June 6 with his family. LHBT said when the patient arrived in Tabuk, he was subjected to rapid antibody testing at the holding area, where he tested positive. K-01 was reported to be asymptomatic. Afterwards, he was referred to the city isolation unit for swabbing and a 14-day mandatory quarantine. His swab samples were sent to Baguio City and yielded positive by the polymerase chain reaction test. Of the 24 passengers of Victory Liner Sweeper Bus No. 01, 14 are from Tabuk and 10 are from other municipalities. Patient K-01, together with his wife and his child, was directed to proceed to a quarantine facility while the 11 co-passengers were referred to their respective Barangay Isolation Units. Meanwhile, as part of the municipality’s contact tracing measures, all health workers and government personnel present at Talaca checkpoint and triage area during that day including drivers who ferried them are now under strict isolation and monitoring.
