TABUK CITY: Development in this city is starting to flourish with the proposed construction of a P640-million market and mall in a 4-hectare property in Bulanao. Mayor Darwin Estrañero said executives of XRC Mall Developers Inc., the local government’s private partner, will be arriving in the city this month to conduct an ocular inspection of the proposed site. The first phase of the multi-million project will be the construction of the city’s public market, a centralized transport terminal and a commercial center featuring a mall. Under the developer’s proposal, no vendors in the city market will be displaced as all existing market stallholders will be guaranteed a space in the new market and additional vendors could even be accommodated. XRC Mall also assured that rentals will not increase and will still be based on the prevailing city market code. Estrañero said once that the market was operational, the local government would stand to earn more than P7 million in business taxes, permits and other fees, which would boost the city’s internally generated resources.
