The House of Representatives recently passed what it called the “Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020.” May I suggest renaming it “The Terrorism Act of 2020”?
Concern has been expressed by many sectors of the political economy, the most important and clearest of which is the letter signed by Catholic and Protestant signatories. These include Bishop Broderick Pabillo of the Archdiocese of Manila and Bishop Gerardo Alminaza of the San Carlos diocese, joined by leaders of several other Christian churches, including the National Council of Churches and the United Church of Christ, and several Catholic religious men and women. As they said, “to remain silent only assures the impending destruction and abuse of our people.”
