Nearly 500 business leaders nationwide have listed 10 doable reforms that would help the Philippine economy quickly recover from the negative effects of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic, the Department of Finance (DoF) said on Wednesday. In a statement, the Finance department said 10 top recommendations emerged during the Sulong Pilipinas: Partners for Progress e-conference held via the Zoom large meeting service earlier this week. These include improving access to farm produce; ensuring continued learning for all students, especially those from lower-income families; promoting financial inclusion and digitalization; strengthening the government’s response mechanism to pandemics; improving internet connectivity and accessibility in the country; and improving the availability of public transportation as the country copes with the adverse impact of the pandemic. The event was hosted by the DoF in partnership with the National Economic and Development Authority and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
