Later this morning, I will be joining Manila Times President and Chief Executive Officer Dante “Klink” Ang 2nd to co-host our online business forum, “Business as Usual Under the New Normal,” which you can view via The Manila Times’ Facebook page. Although I am very much looking forward to the event, the irony of it is still a little hard to grasp. About three months ago, our last business forum took place in a more familiar environment — a hotel ballroom full of people, a see-and-be-seen type of event that I have taken part in more times than I can count over the years, and which I enjoy very much.
Well, that sort of thing will not happen again, at least not for a very long time, and maybe not ever. If this damned Wuhan Virus has taught us anything, it is the folly of our own hubris in believing we can imagine and plan for disruptions. No matter how prepared and flexible we may think we are, the cosmos will find a way to throw a wrench into our well-oiled cogs, forcing us to start all over again from scratch, or very close to it.
