Crispa’s long, winding journey to Grand Slam

First, to earn their seat in the Finals, Crispa, re-Christened Denims at the start of the 1976 PBA Season, had to win a sudden-death playoff. Then they found themselves trailing two games to nothing in the the best-of-five title series for the All-Philippine championship with the Toyota Silver Tamaraws, the same team they outclassed for their two earlier titles in the year.
