The Philippines is part of the race to develop a coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccine, with 87 patients from 24 hospitals taking part in the “Solidarity Trial” of the World Health Organization (WHO).

In a statement on Saturday, Secretary Fortunato Dela Peña of the Department of Science and Technology (DoST) said 12 of the participating Philippine hospitals were recruiting more patients for the trial.
