ORIENTAL Mindoro’s electric cooperative is bolstering efforts to address power supply problems within its coverage area, the National Electrification Administration (NEA) said on Wednesday. Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative Inc. (Ormeco) Project Supervisor and Acting General Manager Norberto Mendoza recognized that there was a supply shortage, which resulted in rotational power interruptions in its service area. NEA Administrator Edgardo Masongsong advised Ormeco to maximize the available existing capacity and implement special uninterrupted load program to help mitigate its supply deficiency. In a letter to the Department of Energy, Ormeco explained that it was not receiving enough power supply from its independent power producers to meet the province’s present demand due to the expiration of its existing contracts with Mindoro Grid Corp. and the retiring generation units of Global Business Holdings Inc.
