HUMANITY is still being ravaged by the highly infectious and fatal respiratory disease known as the coronavirus disease 2019 or Covid-19. As medical experts race against time to find a cure, the only way to prevent the virus from inflicting further damage and claiming the lives of many more is to literally bring the nation to a standstill. Without a vaccine yet, the health sector can only do so much to end the pandemic, and that is to stop the virus from moving from one host, such as a human, to another.
Since March 15, Metro Manila has been placed under a community quarantine to prevent the spread of Covid-19. A day after, the Philippine government saw it fit to expand the coverage of the community quarantine to include the entire Luzon island. Local authorities in other places followed suit and implemented similar measures. On April 24, President Rodrigo Duterte announced that he was extending the quarantine measure until May 15 in high-risk areas, where Covid-19 cases continue to rise.
