Singapore will extend its total lockdown period for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) by four weeks to June 1 to stem the spread of the disease, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said.

These “circuit breaker” measures, which involved home-based schooling and shutting most workplaces temporarily, were implemented two weeks ago and initially supposed to end on May 4.
