GOVERNMENT troops counted casualties in two separate encounters with New People’s Army (NPA) insurgents in Masbate and in Negros Occidental on Sunday.

Reports reaching Camp Aguinaldo indicated that soldiers had been pursuing communist rebels for the past three days after receiving intelligence on extortion activities in Barangay Carabalan, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental.
