Probation after appeal

Dear PAO,

I read an article in your Manila Times column published on March 27, 2020 stating that a person who appealed his conviction no longer q ualifies for probation. Can you please enlighten me on the instances where an offender is still qualified from availing of its benefits even after filing an appeal?
