WITH so much anxiety and public criticism surrounding the government’s handling of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) crisis, it is important to take a moment and acknowledge when things actually do go according to plan. One such example, for which government agencies involved deserve an unqualified thank you, is the strict implementation of Joint Administrative Order (JAO) 20-01 concerning overstaying cargo at the Port of Manila.
JAO 20-01 was issued by the Department of Finance (DoF), Department of Agriculture (DA), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Bureau of Customs (BoC) and Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) to address the near-total congestion at Manila’s port terminals.
