A Cavite town mayor has been charged for allegedly spreading false information that a nearby city had its first case of Coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), the Philippine National Police reported.

The PNP Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit (RACU) in Region IV-A (CALABARZON) acted on the complaint of the Local Government of Cavite City against Noveleta town mayor Dino Reyes Chua, which was filed on March 27.
