As a relative newcomer to the motorsport industry, I am fascinated by the rich history of racing in the Philippines. And, while motorsports in the community isn’t perfect and there are problems that need to be addressed, it cannot be argued that auto racing is more accessible than ever with more opportunities to participate. In my many dealings with people in the racing community, certain names always seem to pop up when discussing important people in the sport. I want to briefly recognize those individuals whose contribution shaped motorsports over the past dozen years.

Four important notes: First, this list only considers four-wheel auto racing and not motorcycle or kart racing, both of which are best talked about by someone far more knowledgeable than me. Second, I am only counting each individual’s impact over the last twelve years (in keeping with the theme of the 12th anniversary of Fast Times: From 2008 to present). Third, this list is in alphabetical order and not by any rank or order of importance. Lastly, I know there are many more people that deserve recognition as well that are not here. Apologies to them, but these are the names that are most frequently brought up in discussions. This list will certainly grow in the future as more people contribute to the sport as drivers, instructors and event organizers.
