ZAMBOANGA CITY: Communist rebels have executed a tribal leader and a farmer in the southern Philippine province of Surigao del Sur, police said on Saturday.
The bodies of the 73-year-old tribal chief, Datu Bernandino Astudillo, and Zaldy Ibanez, 52, were recovered in the village of Magyoyong in San Miguel town, according to Maj. Elvie Dedicatoria, the town’s police chief.
