ZAMBOANGA CITY: A 45-year-old policewoman was hacked dead by her own uncle while her cousin was seriously wounded on Saturday at Bacalso Drive in Barangay Labuan, police said. City Police Director Col. Thomas Joseph Martir identified the fatality as SMS Marjorie Mauricio and the cousin as Sweet Grace Santos, 43, who tried to pacify the attacker, Felixberto Esperat, 60, older brother of Mauricio’s mother. After the incident, Esperat escaped and is now the subject of a police manhunt. Initial police investigation showed that Esperat and Mauricio had a serious altercation after which, Esperat went to the kitchen, grabbed a bolo and attacked her police niece. Maurico was brought to a hospital where she was declared dead, while her cousin was given 50-50 chance of survival.
