THIRTY undocumented Indians have put themselves in deeper trouble after they attacked intelligence operatives of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) who were out to arrest them during an operation in Quezon City. Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente disclosed on Thursday that the illegal aliens chased the immigration agents with machetes instead of giving themselves up peacefully. Morente said the Indians resisted arrest and assaulted their agents. Morente said the incident happened early Wednesday morning at Capitol Estate in Diliman, Quezon City. The BI operatives were arresting the Indians nationals on the strength of a mission order issued by Morente. BI Intelligence Division chief Fortunato Manahan Jr. said their agents were able to defend themselves and subdued their attackers without anybody getting hurt. The arrested Indians were turned over to the BI’s Legal division pending deportation proceedings.
