A local court ordered a trial against former Health secretary and now Iloilo Rep. Janette Garin after it dropped her plea to dismiss her case involving the questionable release of Dengvaxia, an anti-dengue vaccine, during her term that proved to do more public harm than good.
In a three-page order, Quezon City Regional Trial Court Judge Maria Gilda Loja-Pangilinan denied Garin’s motion to dismiss for lack of merit a damage suit filed by the kin of Zandro Colite, 11, who died on Dec. 27, 2017 due to multiple organ bleeding after receiving the vaccine.
