Sarangani province, composed of seven towns — Malungon, Alabel, Malapatan, Glan, Maitum, Maasim and Kiamba, is not only becoming a busy drop-off point for illegal drugs, but is also transforming into a haven for commercial sex workers, according to a nongovernment organization (NGO).
Renalyn Macasaet, from the NGO Tala based in Koronadal City, South Cotabato, said most of the commercial sex workers were members of the B’laan indigenous tribe, known for its colorful brass ornaments and beadwork.
