The Bulacan provincial government and Damayang Filipino Movement Inc. (DFMI) distributed relief goods and provided medical assistance to 435 families, comprising 1,813 individuals affected by the eruption of Taal Volcano. The evacuees are staying at the evacuation center of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) housing project covered court in Barangay Talaibon, Ibaan, Batangas, where the relief distribution took place on Wednesday. Batangas Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) head Joy Montalbo said the National Housing Authority allowed the evacuees to use around 600 housing units for the AFP as temporary shelter through the initiative of the Batangas provincial government headed by Gov. Hermilando Mandanas. Bulacan PSWDO chief Rowena Joson said 26 medical doctors were augmented from 21 municipalities and three cities, while the 18 nurses and 26 volunteers were part of the Damayang Filipino contingent. Dr. Joy Gomez, head of the provincial health, said patients complained of cough and colds and hypertension. The assistance from Bulacan was its way of giving back to Batangas for its help during a typhoon. Bulacan Gov. Daniel Fernando had also earlier led the turnover of P1 million in cash and 5,000 relief goods to the victims of the eruption.
