Ex-policewoman nabbed for robbery-extortion

A former policewoman was arrested in an entrapment in Pasay City on Monday for alleged robbery-extortion, according to the Philippine National Police-Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (PNP-IMEG). The IMEG director, Col. Ronald Lee, on Tuesday identified the suspect as former staff sergeant Beverly Banan. The suspect’s arrest was in line with a massive internal cleansing of the PNP, Lee said. Banan was previously assigned with the Police Regional Office-1’s Regional Human Resource and Doctrine Division. She was declared dropped from the rolls in 2013. The suspect allegedly had demanded P40,000 to P 80,000 from an undercover IMEG officer posing as a policeman seeking transfer to another unit. Banan, the suspect was nabbed in a fastfood chain after receiving P49,000 topped by a marked P1,000 bill from the poseur at 3:25 p.m. on Monday.
