THE Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) on Tuesday vowed to stop all quarrying operations in Masungi Georeserve in Rizal province after it was discovered that a quarry firm had fenced off some 500 hectares of this forestland up for reforestation.
“We will make sure to stop it. There should be no room for quarrying in Masungi kasi (because) that’s a georeserve. We’ll definitely put all our efforts to stop the quarrying as soon as possible,” Environment Undersecretary Benny Antiporda told The Manila Times.
