Before the recent February 24 Senate hearing on the alleged violations of ABS-CBN Corp.’s franchise, one newly elected senator was heard saying, “Does ABS-CBN really have 11,000 employees? I heard from an insider that there are lesser employees than that. Assuming there are 11,000, what’s that number compared to the more than 100 million other Filipinos?” During the Senate hearing, it was mentioned that the ABS-CBN group of companies, including subsidiaries and affiliates, have 11,000 direct employees and 6,000 indirect employees in outsourced services, such as janitorial and security.
