THE Department of Agriculture (DA) is pushing to increase Philippine mango production for both local and overseas markets amid the high infestation of cecid flies, also called kurikong.
In a speech at the First Luzon Mango Congress in Quezon City on Thursday, Agriculture Secretary William Dar committed to assist farmers hit by the infestation, which caused yield loss of about 70 to 100 percent and left them with almost no income.
