LEGAZPI CITY: The new regional director for the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) office in Bicol assumed his post on Wednesday. Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar last week appointed Engineer Melvin Navarro as the new regional head. Navarro replaced suspended regional director Virgilio Eduarte. Eduarte is serving a six-month suspension from the Ombudsman for violating the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act when he was still the assistant regional director and chairman of the Bids and Award Committee in Region 8 in Palo, Leyte. Navarro, meanwhile, previously held the post from 2013 to 2015. Last year, he was reassigned and worked under Villar.
