Brexit signifies, above all, the triumph of national sovereignty

IF there is one word that best exemplifies what took place when Britain formally left the European Union (EU) on Jan. 31, 2020, it is “sovereignty.”

Britain severed its 47-year membership in the union in order to reclaim its agency and sovereignty as a self-governing nation.
