ONLY the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), not the National Transmission Corp. (TransCo), is allowed by the law to audit operations of National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP), the grid operator’s top official said on Monday.

“Under the Epira (Electric Power Industry Reform Act), it is the ERC and not TransCo which regulates NGCP; and it is the ERC which administers the (Philippine) Grid Code, which in turn regulates NGCP’s conduct of System Operations,” NGCP President Anthony Almeda said during a Senate hearing on NGCP operations.
