ON Jan. 26, 1970, fresh from being inaugurated as the first president to win a second term since Manuel Luis Quezon, President Ferdinand Marcos delivered his annual State of the Nation Address (SONA) before Congress. The Ateneo de Manila University president Fr. Pacifico Ortiz, in his opening prayer, asked the Lord to guide a nation at the “trembling edge of revolution.”
