More than 300 families were evacuated by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO)-Talisay from the vicinity of Taal Volcano after the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) raised its alert status to Level 2 last Monday afternoon, January 12.
The evacuees were among the affected residents of Barangay Alas-Asin and Barangay Calangay in San Nicolas, Batangas; and Barangay Tabla, Barangay San Isidro, and Sitio Polo in Talisay, Batangas.
