THE Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Friday that the acquittal of 36 policemen in the Maguindanao massacre case did not guarantee reinstatement in service, its spokesman said.

"Acquittal does not necessarily translate to reinstatement to the police service," Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac, PNP spokesman, told The Manila Times in a message.
