ZAMBOANGA CITY: Beginning January 2020, the San Ramon Penal Colony (SRPC), located at coastal Barangay Talisayan some 20 kilometers west of the city’s commercial center, is set to implement “electronic dalaw (visitation),” a program designed to utilize technology “to bring inmates closer to their families,”a top colony official said last Thursday.
Supt. Roberto Veneracion, SRPC chief and Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) administrator, said the project, considered the first its kind in Mindanao, involves “the use of digital technology to allow inmates to talk to their family members who live in rural communities far away from the prison facility.”
