Meralco PowerGen Corporation (MGen), a wholly-owned power generation subsidiary of Manila Electric Co. (Meralco), the Philippines’ largest electric distribution utility, recently celebrated the switching-on of its 500-megawatt supercritical coal-fired power plant in ceremonies held at the Grand Hyatt Manila.
The switch-on ceremony was led by no less than President Rodrigo Roa Duterte (center, seated) who gave the assurance that his administration remains committed to the use of clean energy to drive the country’s growth.
