Parañaque City, headed by its local chief executive Mayor Edwin Olivarez, is the other recipient of the Education Hub Award in recognition for its significant investment in education. Constituents, bona fide residents of the city, are ensured of educational and financial assistance which is taken care of by the local government’s Special Services Office.
College students enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree or a course under a ladderized program are entitled to a financial educational assistance under the city government’s College Educational Financial Assistance Program. Resident students, even if enrolled at a school located outside the city, can avail of the financial assistance provided that they meet the required general average among other requirements. Thousands of students have benefited from this particular program since it started in 2014.
